Books to Movies

Usually, I’m a “the book is always better than the movie” person.  There’s always something off with the movie – an actor/actress isn’t like I thought the character would be, things left out, things rearranged etc.  Also, I’ve usually read the book first, so I love it more because it was first. The only exception to this is Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquival. Somehow both the book and the movie were wonderful.

Now, for the first time (that I recall anyway) I’m going the opposite way – movie to book.  I’ve seen the movie Enchanted April a few times, I love it and now I’m reading the book, it’s by Elizabeth von Arnim. So far it’s good, though I find myself trying to match the movie character to the book, but since it’s been a while I don’t remember who played who, which I guess is a good thing.

So, will I enjoy the book as much as or more than the movie? I’ll let you know.  But if you want to see lovely scenes of Italy I recommend the movie Enchanted April.
